Non-Compensation of the Barrel Tile Hadron Module-0 Calorimeter
نویسنده
چکیده
The detailed experimental information about the electron and pion responses, the electron energy resolution and the e/h ratio as a function of incident energy E, impact point Z and incidence angle Θ of the Module-0 of the iron-scintillator barrel hadron calorimeter with the longitudinal tile configuration is presented. The results are based on the electron and pion beams data for E = 10, 20, 60, 80, 100 and 180 GeV at η = −0.25 and −0.55, which have been obtained during the test beam period in 1996. The results are compared with the existing experimental data of TILECAL 1m prototype modules, various iron-scintillator calorimeters and with some Monte Carlo calculations.

متن کاملEeect of the Tile Calorimeter Thickness in the Atlas Barrel Calorimeter Performance
We report on the study of the eeect of the Tile calorimeter thickness in the ATLAS Barrel calorimeter performance. The reduction of the Tile Calorimeter depth by 20 cm would have severe consequences on the hadron calorimeter performance and would increase the punchtrough probability in the muon chambers placed behind the calorimeter. Cost savings are also analysed.
متن کاملCharged Pion Energy Reconstruction in the ATLAS Barrel Calorimeter
The intrinsic performance of the ATLAS barrel and extended barrel calorimeters for the measurement of charged pions is presented. Pion energy scans (E = 20, 50, 200, 400 and 1000 GeV) at two pseudo-rapidity points (η = 0.3 and 1.3) and pseudorapidity scans (−0.2 < η < 1.8) with pions of constant transverse energy (ET = 20 and 50 GeV) are analysed. A simple approach, that accounts in first order...
متن کاملEffect on a Hadron Shower Leakage on the Energy Response and Resolution of Hadron TILE Calorimeter
The hadronic shower longitudinal and lateral leakages and its effect on the pion response and energy resolution of ATLAS ironscintillator barrel hadron prototype calorimeter with longitudinal tile configuration with a thickness of 9.4 nuclear interaction lengths have been investigated. The results are based on 100 GeV pion beam data at incidence angle Θ = 10 at impact point Z in the range from ...
متن کاملStudy of the light produced in PMT / light guide region of Tile barrel Module 0
For the 1995 1m prototype data it was observed that particles escaping the calorimeter can produce light in the PMT/light guide region [1]. Using both test beam and laboratory data, evidence for this effect was found and the mechanism behind it identified as ionisation or Cherenkov light in the photocathode. For Module 0 this effect is expected to be smaller because of the use of smaller photom...
